RadialShift Camera

Cool! This app has a good list! And the software itself looks nice too... Thanks for the tip.

Oh yea, do you perhaps know of another software that would allow custom calibration like the "Camera Calibration Tools"? That one seems a bit too unstable...

Yes have tried also without success and that was
for my Zhang algorithm experiments which is a bit
different from the Dersch algorithm.
Basically Panotools do calibration, but as a step for
stitching panorama to get rectilinear images before
assembling, in PTOptimizer but it has a poor java
interface.
Hope to find a easier free software and workflow
for self-calibration.

Denis.

Have not image set in my hand to test,
hugin (Panotools) can load a set of images (we can ignore
the autopanorama request), add control points
between each pair of image and run an auto-optimizer program
for outputting a, b & c distorsions, except we don't need
positions for stitching.

On the PTLens (Panotools also) site there a sample
for target image (menu->Calibration->Target):
http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

This is different than Calibration Toolbox, no grid frame,
large distance (a building), edge to edge lines, only half
of the image for control points, but not automatism here
and I suppose this requires a lot of points for accuracy.

Note:
The Krause's polynomial abc for Canon EF 17-35 mm:
cal_abc: 17 0.014716 -0.030299 -0.023392
and PTLens database:
cal_abc: 17 0.020618 -0.051946 0.000000
are different, but compared results in RadialShift Camera
for both abc and Real Lens Camera are not so far.

Ahh great! Now those a b c make sense... I've been using Ptgui and Hugin and never gave it much consideration... Finaly I can match LW camera with it seems :)

The RadialShift Camera has been updated,

-Improved accuracy in the distorsion algorithm,
previous saved camera in presets or scenes will have a slightly
different radial distorsion,
but now it should match LW Real Lens cameras with
same (a, b and c ) lens profiles.

-"Irradiance falloff" has been improved, it is better smoothed,
shoukd match also LW Real Lens cameras with same value.
-Removed the "Distorsion Mapped by" choice, it is now always
evaluated per focale.

-Added a "Load Lens Profile File" button for loading directly
lens profiles from a text file.

-Camera name and comment are now saved with scene.

updated x32 version available here,

In case someone would be interested by calibrating
a unlisted camera+lens, studying the process
for adding a new lens profile in the PTLens database,
to get "abc" for RadialShift Camera.

Fixed a hole in opengl camera grid,
and minor things in Lens Profile requester
in both x32 and x64 version, same link above.

A rough box textured with grid lines to compare
with a 7.85mm focale Irradiance Falloff 4.0,
classic fixed AA 5,
the Nikon 4500 LW Real Lens camera,
(1mn34s),
