My license won't work anymore.

I haven't touched LW in a while. I have licenses for both 11.6 and 2018, and now that I tried to run them, they will only run on discovery mode on 2 different windows 10 computers.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
 
What happens when you drag the license to the start up window when you are asked about the licensing?
Did you really install the licenses properly in the first place , or did you just play around with the demo trial without a first proper installement so it went to discovery mode?
 
The licenses used to work of course. And when I drag them on the window again, it just says they were installed and to restart. But it restarts in discovery mode.

Not sure if you have to try and run lightwave as an administrator or not when installing the license, I recall there was some issue with that, so try that, or if that is what you do, then don´t :)
Otherwise, perhaps just uninstall it all and do a fresh install again, may be a bit of a pain if you have set things up, though you may be able to save settings for that.
 
You probably know all about his since before, but in any case it could help, make sure you have the right license key downloaded from your account, matching the versions you are applying them to in the first place.

Yeah I got the right licenses. Now I have another issue. It won't even download any zip files of the installer from the account page. I've turned every security/firewall off and tried 3 different browsers. It fails to download zip files!
 
Weird.... I had to change the http:// to https:// on the download link, and then bypass the warnings to download the installer.

Could be your browser, I tested with chrome right now, no need to change http to https over here, and right click to download the licensing works without any need to bypass warnings,
Otherwise I use firefox often, and it often generates warnings, but it depends on your settings in your browser security options within that.
 
Finally managed to re install fresh and now the license works! I guess I'll never know what caused the issue.

Did you now run it with admin rights as I said in post 4?
It is also described in the license install help files..

  • Download the license file first, you cannot drag and drop directly from the webpage
  • To avoid license key problems under Windows, run the installer with Admin rights
For LightWave 3D Users:

  • Existing owners can also use their hardware dongle for plugins that are still tied to it
  • The new software based licensing is only available for LightWave version 11.0.3 and higher
  • Drag and drop activation is available in LightWave 11.0.3 and higher

I am having SAME problem. I will uninstall and then reinstall and hope it's the FIX. THANK YOU for this thread.

I can called LW I have emailed LW 3 times and GOT NO NO NO response reply. I have used LW for 20 years IN THE PAST they had the BEST service. Today, well in the future I will NEVER again be proud of this new New Tek company.
