Hi guys!

In this video, we'll take a deep dive into Substance Painter's Auto UVs feature and figure out the answer to the age-old question - Can we finally skip UV Unwrapping?
If you're new to cloud rendering and would like to learn more, here's a great resource for you

I export objects to 3D Coat without UV and 3DC creates it for me.
Plus I can edit it in 3DC if it needs it (but generally not needed).

If this is a new feature to Substance, then they are late to the party.....:D

I've used the Auto-UV in Substance, and although it's decent, it doesn't lay them out how I would.

It's good, but doesn't quite have the intelligence I'd like for the direction of UV islands, and which way they point. I always like to have my UV islands with similar direction, based on strata of textures etc, and it's useful to have them pointing the same direction in UV space.

If you can't be bothered to UV though, it's a god-send

Looks good, for Substance Painter folks i'm sure it is Great,
for others, seems alright.
for 3Dcoat users, unsure, not sure how they compare, seems to be about the same tech ?

can't wait for that 1-click flawless-UV button tho' ...

3D Coat has Ptex option, it says it creates UV maps on the fly as needed.
You can then export Ptex or standard UV maps.
Have not tried it though.
