One thing,

Those that are trying to make realistic human robots robots, are not in the same league as those making animatronics in my opinion.
When these branches are merging, we may get something more human like.

the skin of the face is the tricky part,

with all its micro-movements and elasticity.
difficult getting non-organic materials to behave like that over time without deteriorating.
