Reduce Vertices Count trees

Hey guys. I Spawning trees in a game - with great leaves count.
These come up close to camera sometimes to give realism feel among the trees from different passing angles. But I need to reduce the vertices count for better game performance. Any ideas? (Not Reduce Polys Thanks)

The polygon reduction plugin on the PLG tools page preserves weights, morphs, UV maps, and other things that are normally lost with the native Lightwave tool, assuming you are on a windows PC.

The only other option I can think of is polygon cruncher, a highly specialized and somewhat pricey solution, but the best out there. It is not only fast even with dense geometry, but in most cases it is interactive in the way it works too so you aren't doing any guesswork in how much reduction you need.
