Recording of the live event

Disclaimer: There are several levels on which one should not read too much into this post. LD does not yet have the keys to the overall website, but there was an available means to update the blog, and I happened to have the experience and free time to help out with that. Please make no other assumptions based on that.

The LightWave Digital announcements and with some clarifications and additional information are now in a new blog post, and the video of the event is now also embedded there:

Thanks. During the recording they talked about LW2015 and possibly some future updates for the huge Japanese market that still use this version.

A question. What exactly did get broken in LW2015 or needed fixing for these users for their anime pipeline? Obviously their preference for staying on this version no doubt has something to do with the newer implementations with the render engine.

What went wrong, what are the issues, if anyone knows exactly, I would love to hear the ins and outs of it all. :D

I do indeed still have a LW2015 version I could download. I do remember it fairly fondly as a solid version of LW and one I had up until I missed 2018 but got LW2019.

Cheers.

Andrew said that part of the problem is that the studios' inhouse plugins don't work with new Lightwave 2018-2020 (I guess with the new renderer).

For the old renderer, there are also special toon shader plugins such as unReal Xtreme 2 (yes, it's also called unreal, but it's not the game engine :)).

REBORN
meh..cross post needed, belongs better here..
I must say though, even though I won´t jump in to any early join the rebellion and it´s shares, nor do I go to the discord community.
What I do see with the youtube clips..I just have to hand a Kudos to Andy Bishop for changing that perspective on how to be more transparent on their development.
To me ..that is a good sign.

Just haven´t had that much time to follow the clips unfortunately lately and right now, but I will look at it more later.

Absolutely. New Times.

Lots to catch up, but they know that.
