Graphics=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 - 8192 MB = Temp till i put other cards back in machine.
HDD SATA=SanDisk SDSSDH31024G - 953 GB (194787800592) plus a few more HDD's
Fractal AIO S36 CPU water cooler

Temps on new build are really good

Had some real issues trying to get Lightwave to work, on the 3 displays, LW would freeze up on #2 monitor [the middle one] for some odd reason, it was really becoming a headache. It was a WTH moment, daaaaaaa

So I took a break and did some yard work for awhile..... hours and a few beers later..

So spent a good 1/2 day swapping cards and cables, then some how I fixed it. wahoooo

The GTX-1080, I am using for the Displays, I had the displays hooked up using the HDMI and the DP ports.
And decided to Use the DVI port for display #1, and the HDMI port for the #2 display, then the Display Port #1 for display #3.

Now its all working like it should.. Did the bench mark scene, using the BenchmarkMarbles scene.
Rendered it in 10m 52s (652.6 seconds)

Praise the world, remember "BEER" did save the world... yuppers love that beer

Welcome to the Threadripper club! How does LW 2015 run on the 3970X? I have to shut down half my cores on the 2990WX in order to run 2015 stable otherwise it's almost unusable. LW 2018, 2019 & 2020 all run great on it with all cores.

So far 2015.3 runs sweet with all 64 cores.

Had Issues after getting the new machine after getting up and running, all the versions of LW would freeze up on the #2 Display..

After fiddling around with the vid cards I removed the Titan and put the GTX-1080 in PCI-1 slot, and so far everything is working again.... Thought it was LW but it was the Video card issue, still going to put the Titan back in and put it in PCI-2 and use it for the GPU stuff. The Titan still has some good Horsepower in it.

Down loaded the AI Suite 3 for the Asus Mother board so I can monitor the temps and do manual control if I like.

Some one said I can use the UEFI gui while Windows is running, need to figure that one out..

well, I got 14.52 mins on benchmark marbles 2015.3 lws (892.7 secs) so your system is kicking it.
I wonder how so much faster, considering same chip and ram speed, only mb different?

have the ram and CPU O/C'd ram at 3000 and cpu at 4200 so i am going to rerun benchmark marbles again

when I tried that with ram at 3200 and cpu 4200 it rendered slower! this was in the lw 2020 benchmark that Lewis made

A little Old School comparison :) Dual Xeon E5 2680 v3, 64GB 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM = 34m 8s

Without intention to hijack this thread, would LW2015 .. LW2020 run fine with the combination of a Threadripper and a RTX30x0 card?

Some folks were reporting issues with RTX30x0 cards and LW, check around forums & FB for more details. Threadripper should be fine, though.

LW 2015 and 2020 work fine with the Threadripper 3960X and RTX 3060 here ... (2019 does not).

Glad to hear this.
The rest of my software could use a GPU upgrade.

Hopefully the other RTX cards will behave the same.
