Motion info node in DPkit crashing layout

In LW64, adding a null then going to the displacement node editor and adding a motion info node, is crashing layout for me. Same with any other geometry too.

Anyone else?

Can't reproduce here with x32,
tested with both LW 9.3.1 and LW 9.6,
couldn't say for x64, anybody else
would test it?

Denis.

Edit: do you add a displacement to a NULL?
what do you try to do?

I tried with a null and a standard box - both the same.

I was going to try and measure a distance an object had covered, although no animation had been done at the time I added the node.

I'll see if anyone else can test...

just tried it with 64bit LW 9.6 works fine here...

mmm strange. Which version of DPKIT are you using? I updated to the 22/3/09 version...

So it is working now after updating to newer DPKIT version?

Just tried it with 3-18-09 version in x32 9.6 and got a crash, too.

Nope! - I hadn't tried that node until last night...after upgrading.

So looks like something broke in more recent versions...

It works here, with x32 in 9.6, both Item Motion or Displacement NE,
animating a null or a mesh with the motion of another null.
Did you follow the same steps, simply adding the node?

There's no recent changes in Motion Info node,
the last change was to lock the node process if the selected item
is itself.
Of course, I can't exclude an issue, I'm still looking for a clue...

Hi Denis,

I get the following error message upon loading the test scene:

"No plug-in of type ItemMotionHandler found with name nodeItemMotion."

Hopefully that gives a clue. Also note that I recently have completely removed and then reloaded the DPKIT plugin, so it should be cleanly installed as far as I can tell.

It works here, with x32 in 9.6, both Item Motion or Displacement NE,
animating a null or a mesh with the motion of another null.

I tried adding the node to both a null and a simple test object, in the displacement NE.

Motion Info node is especially useful with the Item Motion node editor,
which is not included in DP Kit pack, it is a separate download
bottom of the DP Kit menu on my site.

Update:

I have installed the Item Motion node editor now. When loading the test scene I get a standard crash message: "A critical error has occurred, create crash report?".

This is a scene built today in 9.3.1 with last DP Kit x32 version,
reloaded and played correctly in both 9.3.1 and 9.6.
If you are x32, could be a config issue, but just a spec.

Sorry, but couldn't say more, still x32 here with working case.

Denis.

And the posted scene above, please?

There is no scene as such, just load any object and add the node for instant crash as shown.

Is there any debug thing I can turn on or send that would help track down the problem?
