Macro button combos?

My school approved buying a TC1 for Esports a little over a year ago, but only set up the ethernet this summer, so I'm finally able to put it to use.

I'm having a macro hurdle with Inputs. I'm doing NDI for screencapture and webcams and using almost all the TC1 inputs (2 SDI sources per computer + commentators = 5-6 computers at a time out of the 30 computers in the lab). I saw assigning sources to inputs is possible in macros (I'm using a launchpad), but I'm wanting some kind of combo-press where I can press one of the 30 "source computer" buttons and then press one of 5 buttons that assign those two sources to specific Inputs. It looks like I can't do any button combos though besides Ctrl/Alt/Shift. I also have a TC1SP that came bundled, though it's not very helpful with the number of inputs I'm using.

For a simplified example of what I'm wanting:
▣▢▢▢▢ Assigns Computer 1 Sources (Screen and webcam) to Inputs 7 and 8, respectively

▢▢▢▣▢
=========
▢▢▢▢▢ Assigns Computer 7 Sources (Screen and webcam) to Inputs 7 and 8, respectively
▢▣▢▢▢
▢▢▢▣▢

▢▢▢▢▢ Assigns Computer 7 Sources (Screen and webcam) to Inputs 5 and 6, respectively
▢▣▢▢▢
▢▢▣▢▢

I know I can do each of these individually on 1 macro, but I would need a giant grid of 30x5 buttons, ha.

Any ideas?

That might not be entirely crazy, as you could set it up in LivePanel using "Builder" for access in an outboard web browser. Another possibility might be to use NDI Router upstream, storing routing presets that can be invoked with one click.

Well, this is super frustrating. Realized macro with variables would work, but we have TC1, not TC1 Pro. On an order over a year old that I could only just now setup. Bureaucracies.

I think I want to avoid whatever the outboard web browser option is in favor of something more tactile for my students.

Could you explain the second option more? New to all of this, but from what I'm seeing, would the NDI routing presets change multiple inputs, or just 1 at a time? Referencing the above example, I don't want Inputs 1-10 (currently mapped to computer 1-5) to all remapped from going to a new routing preset (computers 6-10) if I'm wanting to pull from both computers 1 and 7 (or any combination of 30).

If you just want to change one input, you'd likely do better to simply use the NDI Router UI. Presets span multiple outputs.

Wouldn´t StreamDeck´s ´Multi-Action´ function be an option for this needs, too?
Looks like StreamDeck doesn't do combos and can't nest - I think it functions the same as plain TriCaster Macros (whole computer though).

Started messing with this, but it looks like:
  • changing Presets also applies to Destinations
  • can't control within TriCaster
    • Need additional computer
    • Can't assign TriCaster Shortcuts or Macros (would want to swap 2 inputs at same time, not click individually)
It was fun to see though! Looks like I might start looking at who our vendors are and who to reach out to see about an upgrade already =/

Well, the Stream Deck Software itself doesn't do combo buttons (AFAIK) - BUT the Companion App for Stream Deck does.
That's the way I do multi button shots.

Either you combine several Macros after another (even delay can be assigned) or you can set several single buttons to single Macros - and set a combo button with the function "internal button: press and release" and add as many buttons as you need.
Attention to this: if you use "internal button: press", it's a press-and-hold action.

You have options with a Stream Deck.

The NewTek plugin with the default software works fine. I believe you can stack macros with this as well.

Companion you can definitely stack macros.

IMO, the best Tricaster integration is with Central Control.
