Lightwave plugin - AHK, Select Connected

Waves of light

Stuck in a very big cube
Seriously, you have opened up my eyes this morning. I always use CRTL+SHIFT+RMB/LMB/MMB menus to speed up my workflow and change shortcuts that are towards the other end of the keyboard closer to where my left hand sits.

I've now setup AHK and I can already see a speed increase in modeling. I've set 1 to Select Points/Polys/Edges, using your code too.

Thanks a bunch.

Ricky.

EDIT: I've connect selected to SHIFT+RMB - that way, I don't have to release the SHIFT button, I've I'm selecting additional polys from other objects and then connect selecting the lot.

I wouldn't worry too much. You create a lot of videos and I know I'm guilty of watching and then not leaving a comment. I think it's just because folks are so busy.

Just gotta go through them all now and create a cheat sheet. It will take a little time for my brain to adjust, but once it does, I'll save loads of modeling time.

The code below is just for my mouse buttons and SHIFT Key. These allow me to keep my fingers on or off the SHIFT key, whilst being able to select, select connected, expand/contract selection, select loop, select next/previous loop. And I have Select Path keyed to SHIFT+C.

This is a massive time saver.

EDIT: I've now mapped CTRL+MouseWheel to Select Switch.

Code:
; MOUSE BUTTON CHANGES.
; BEGIN.

MButton:: Send, {Delete}
WheelUp:: Send, {Up}
WheelDown:: Send, {Down}
+WheelUp:: Send, +]
+WheelDown:: Send, +[
+RButton:: Send, ]
+MButton:: Send, {Right}
^WheelUp:: Send, +^o
^WheelDown:: Send, +^o

; END.

Thanks erikals, I need a better easier way of selecting connected, haven´t installed autohotkey, will have to take a look at that..though this is something the lightwave group need to hard code in the selection modes,modo has it..item select.

I would prefer also just use a middle mouse click or double click to run it.
not sure how this script works now, but can´t you just map it to shift and then middle click on one connected item? I don´t like the two button then mouse button workflow.

I did come across this thread thanks to the lightwave search, so I wasn´t browsing the forums first, that means your videos are as always appreciated and useful.

Michael - You can pretty much map any key (there are some pitfalls).

For easy selection I now use this as part of my setup:

AHK_CHeatSheet.jpg

And this is the code:

Code:
; MOUSE BUTTON CHANGES.
; BEGIN.

#IfWinActive Modeler

MButton:: Send, {Delete}
WheelUp:: Send, {Up}
WheelDown:: Send, {Down}
+WheelUp:: Send, +]
+WheelDown:: Send, +[
^RButton:: Send, ]
+MButton:: Send, {Right}
^WheelUp:: Send, +^o
^WheelDown:: Send, +^o

; END.

Thanks, Erikals. Yes, I didn't know the soft. After a while I saw my question was wrong: You weren't talking about lscript but third-party solution. Finally I doscovered AHK and installed it and now enjoying your codes :) It's great to select connected just with a click... and more

?? SELECT CONNECTED is already only one keypress: what's the difficulty?

I do admit I like the idea of expanding/contracting Selections with the mouse wheel, and MMB Delete looks nice too, since it's rather hard to CLICK the MMB (IMO). But these are pretty straightforward/mundane AHK tasks: chains of keypresses and or auto-clicking on panel controls is more impressive.

Expand contract selection involves { and } I suppose +] +[ are used instead { and } because they are script elements... but they don't work for me

I also notice you miss the +LButton. I added

+LButton:: Send, /

for unselect... guys, this is addictive :)

here, i'm showing how to add "select connected" to a mouse button
some might not like it, which is quite alright, but i do. thereby showing the technique.

i know !
