Importing logos into 3D Arsenal?

I just bought 3D ACT with Lightwave 7.5 for Mac (education).
The main reason it was purchased was to take existing logo files and make them 3D and manipulate them.
What file formats can I use to import? I tried EPS but that didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For LightWave 7.5 you can load in dxf obj 3ds lwo ai and eps files. For the ai and the eps files you have to use the epsf importer and they have to be vector files.

Not only do they need to be vectors, but you also need to use a version of .ai or .eps older than version 8, because at 8 Adobe changed the format completely.

Years ago on the Amiga there used to be an autotrace program that would take a bit map and turn it into a 3d logo. Is there a modern equivelent?

It's actually surprisingly simple to do manually in Modeler - add points around the outline, convert to a closed spline, and do a little tweaking.

There is a new series of tutorials on the new 3DA site that shows how to import and create logos from EPS files

They do need to be eps illustrator 8 file format

I will also be putting up a tutorial series on creating 3D logos from 2D images in the near future
