How can I change the text size for one letter

On the 3DA demo there is a stage logo scene that has
(littleton HOCKEY BANTOM A). How was the A created?

And if I wanted the first letters in each word L H & B
larger than the rest of the letters, how can I create
do this?

Once you've made the text the letters are just polygons so you can resize them as you like.

Would I resize the letters in the Modeler or lightwave 7.5?

Either, but for a "permanent" change (you can always size it up later) do it in Modeler. It's easier to manipulate there as well since you can size from anywhere not just the pivot.
