Is it Lightwave 2019? Is it my computer? Is it Windows 10? any ideas I talking about Layout, latest version LW no matter what I'm working on as I move from task to task I get constant crashes. My computer is HP Z6 G4 Workstation Xeon Silver 4114 CPU 10 core 16GB Ram I used to move around creating in older versions and on Windows 7 and never experience so much crashing. I searched and found turn open gl textures off that didnt change anything. Any ideas

You didn't provide anywhere near enough info to diagnose your issue.

Which LW2019 version? Which Win10 version? Is it just Layout that's crashing, Layout & Modeler, or other processes as well? When you say "move from task to task" what precisely are you doing to shift between tasks?

Sorry I did say I'm talking about Layout and latest version So that is 2019.1.4 Windows 10 is the 1903 version. Moving between tasks I mean things like changing a surface or re-positioning an object and many other normal things one would do in the course of creating a scene. It's so prevalent I haven't come on here and listed it or uploaded scene files etc. I would be doing that constantly. I was just wondering if there are some overall settings or something that could help. Or is it the program? Lightwave program is loaded on C drive which is a 256SSD and I save the projects to E a 1TB Hardrive. Of course I save and save and I get through projects but real pain constantly crashing restarting etc. Thanks for any thoughts

Just to clarify the latest version is now 2019.1.5 which was released for download yesterday.

Great example of why it's always better to explicitly state what you have, not use labels like "latest version" (too often, the person's notion of "latest" isn't the actual "latest") -- I encountered customers who a couple weeks ago still believed 2019.1.3 was the "latest version". It might seem like saying "latest version" is a precise, absolute description, but it really isn't. If someone comes upon the thread a week from now, and sees "latest version", they'll think 2019.1.5, not the 2019.1.4 the OP meant.

"Latest version" is a subjective, not objective label. Typing the actual version takes fewer characters, and is a LOT more reliable.

As for the OP's issue: As you're seeing a bunch of crashes, are the crashes from Lightwave? Can you post an example crashdump from one of your crashes? How exactly does the crash manifest? Does LW just drop silently to desktop without ever showing bug/crash warning dialog? Or are you referring to OS crashes (BSoD's)? If BSoD's then the problem likely isn't LW, but instead some kind of driver issue (likely gfx driver issue). What's the BSoD error code/message provided (if BSoD)?

NVIDIA Quadro P1000 The crash does pop up the Lightwave dialog box. I sent a report once but got the "you didnt provide enough info" answer. Not sure what the crash dump is. This has been the same with all the 2019 versions. I keep updating thinking it'll change.

Well Jimmy Christmas!! I was just reading the other day jwiede's post frustratingly asking for news on an update. I'll be more specific. THX

Yeah, if you can provide details from the crashdump, it'll help pin down the issue (or at least the general area of the issue). Or perhaps you won't have the problem with 2019.1.5, that'd work too.

I get an awful lot of crashes when using the hub, or just switching between different apps. Whether it's Outlook or Powerpoint etc. Flipping to these and back can sometimes cause a hub crash, or modeller.

I've been getting these since 2018 came out, my thoughts are it's to do with the introduction of the Layout view in Modeller, but it's so random it's hard to nail down :(

Thanks all, I was thinking maybe it's just my 16GB Ram. When I got this computer I was going up from a 12GB machine that seemed to run applications good so I was just thinking of rendering i.e. putting more emphasis on the CPU. Probably should of spent a little more, maybe I'll up it to 32GB. Lately with 2019.1.5 and doing the driver update I'm cruising along through a variety of projects without too much trouble. Of course still crashes but I save and get along.

Ya, that's still a bit whimpy depending on the scene. I'm on an HP Envy system so pretty similar to what you have. I really have to keep watch on memory usage whereas my main system back home it's rarely a concern w/ probably 8x RAM and 20x GPU power.

I've been setting up a "stress test" scene of sorts to see what I can get away with on the HP. In Layout, I frequently use the "W" key to bring up to Stats panel. The different VPR modes have significant affect. I usually stick to a wire mode and use the Ctrl-F9 to toggle.

I do use the Hub but haven't had issues with it in recent builds but it could be a factor. I've seen significant amount of memory freed up just by doing a simple scene save. When the scene size gets up to the point of not happy with VPR, I go through a routine of loading the scene, saving it in Wireframe mode then clear the scene. Open the scene again from the Recents list then check memory with the "W" again. If the Free Memory is below 1 Gb, expect VPR to crash. If you've a couple Gb's free, you should be fine.

96Gb of RAM here, and it's crashy as a big crashy thing with seven little crashy things trailing along behind. No apparent trigger, it just gets bored and dies. Dell dual Xeon workstation with a couple of Quadro p5000s, so not exactly running short of resources.
