3P1 please update file export to used tagging data for filename

On the old 3Play systems when you use the shortcut keys on the panel to use hotkeys to name a file. This data was used as the filename when exporting

On the 3P1 this is not the case and you have to manually rename each clip.

This slows down the speed of being able to push clips out to our FTP server which in turn delays delivery
Please can this work as it does on all the other 3play systems.

Thank you.

NOTE: I had previously put this into the Tricaster requests section, didn't realise this section was here. Thanks

+1

Our team worked a lot with the feature of having the comment included in the exported filename.
This feature seems to have been removed in 3P1 and 3P2.

Can we have it back? Maybe as option?
This would make our workflow so much faster again!

Many thanks for taking into consideration!

Hello - we just had the same issue and I was able to escalate this with NewTek support. They spent a couple weeks and came back with this registry tweak that fixed the issue. This worked on a 3P2 (Current Version: 7-8-220328), but your mileage may vary on different models.

Change the attached filename extension to ".reg" instead of ".txt", move to the 3PLAY, and double click. Restart 3PLAY and then try adding a clip to the Export queue!

1000 thanks for sharing this solution! :)(y)
I hope Newtek will implement this fix for both 3P1 and 3P2 in the next version update!

Is there any way to have it list the clip number at the beginning like the older models too? Issue I'm running into now is that if two clips (different clip numbers) are labeled the same thing, I can't tell the difference in the clips based on the label. If I have 4 angles of a clip and they're labeled the same, I'll end up with "Clip (1)" thru "Clip (8)"

Thank you for this possible solution.

If I'm following you correctly:
1. Rename the file "use_legacy_name_clip_export.reg.txt" to "use_legacy_name_clip_export.reg", then move to the 3PLAY. Where? Is the desktop fine?
2. Double-click it. What happens after that? Does anything on the screen change?
3. Restart 3PLAY and all is good.

Sorry for the questions but changing the registry on a brand new piece of equipment isn't something I'm comfortable with, so I'm a little hesitant.
Why is this fix/file being shared by a "New member" and without any input from NewTek?

Can you understand my hesitation?

No risk, no fun... ;-)

But seriously: we tried this fix and it is working without issue for us.
Nevertheless we would love to see this fix asap in the next official update release!
We can't imagine any reason why is not done already...

We tried this but it did not work. I can see the change in the registry, but it still doesn't change the names of the exported files.

Thanks kanep, but we have the 3P2. You made me realize that I needed to update my signature to include our current equipment.
I am still working with NewTek support on getting the tagging to work properly. Hopefully soon!

I do think this registry change only work for items sent from the Clip List, not the Playlist.

I've tried this registry change and it has worked for me.

Yes, unfortunately it only works from the Clip List.
In the Clip List, all the angles of a play have the same IN and OUT point.

The Play List is where we put all the good angles of a replay and trim them accordingly before exporting them. Not all replay angles need the same clip duration exported.

It would be very helpful to be able to export for the Play List with the tagged name.

Thanks again.
