    Light Through Green Leaves Effect

I'd like to try an make a scene that depicts bright green leaves illuminated by the sun above the trees. What approach would one take to achieve the appearance of light going through the surface of a leaf?

Is this what SSS rendering tries to do? Would Worley's G2 plug-in have some of the tools to help with this type of render or does LW 9 now have some capability to achieve this effect.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Try Kappa II. It seems quite good at that sort of effect, and it renders quickly. Or just make them translucent.
    Are my spline guides showing?

I think you're after translucency. Give that a go, under Surface.
