Calibar for Sale w/ Power supply

    Greetings All,

Calibar sn # 100884 with power supply and BNC adaptors for sale. Works Great. Very low use, mostly for a few demos. It’s been living the easy life resting on a shelf. Wants more action. This product has always been really cool. If only this one could talk!

Email me if you have any interest.

    Pricing?

    Hi All,

Pricing a Calibar is a challenge. I consider these facts.
    1. Calibars are a discontinued, out of stock product since 2000.
    2. Calibars are a really cool, pen sized video test pattern signal generator - Battery or AC power.
    3. The original price was either $ 395 - $495.
    4. The price of gas was around $ 1.25/gallon back then. Lots of other costs have gone up so the actual value a dollar is quite diminished these days.
    5. This particular Calibar has very little use and has been resting on a shelf inside a house with central heating and A/C.

I'm looking for $ 300 in today's dollars and I will consider less.

What are your thoughts on a fair price?

    Thanks,

    Greg

Well while I enjoy your comparisons they really don't compare since those
are commodity items and the Calibar is now a novelty item out of
production for almost 10 years. It has nostalgic value.

A fair price would be 100-150.00.
An analogy would be the depreciation on a car.

Contact me and we'll haggle. :-)

    Calibar sold for 175

Sorry, I thought I had replied to this thread that the calibar sold. For historical info, I was responsible for the release of Calibar 2, which happened.

The Calibar for sale was my personal Calibar. It was a great product line, just not core to NewTek. We had such great visions back then. I was sad at the final outcome.

Final outcome? NEWTEK or the Amiga? I would agree on the Amiga's final
outcome but NEWTEK seems to be doing well.
There were quite a few disgruntled people in the industrial video hardware
world that constantly pushed FUD about NEWTEK products.
The inevitable "it's only good for weddings" crap always cropped up until I
reminded people that they only heard that because so MANY people used
the Toaster and Lightwave etc. that the amatuers outnumbered the
professionals 10-1. That and reminding people about all the areas
    that used NEWTEK products.

NETEK should have pushed extremely hard for product acknowledgement
on the many professional productions it initialy supported. It took
an entire season before I saw acknowledgement in the credits of
    productions such as STTNG.

I recently watched a VERY old computer cronicles episode with a barely
new NEWTEK almost apologising for the Toaster being "very good for amateur projects" yes those were the exact words by a NEWTEK designer.

I was only discussing the demise of Calibar and related technology. Very sad what happened to that line.

I've always known the Toaster technology is a very superior product. Lightwave too. NewTek products rock. Marketing, not so much. But hind site is 20/20

Trying to find the wall wart for my Calibar. Can anyone tell me what the Newtek supplied power supply had on it for the Calibar?

    Thanks,

I'm looking for a Calibar to replace mine which was stolen this year. Not sure the thief even knew what it was he was taking. I still need it. Kind of makes me sad.. it was my favorite tool even though I used it somewhat less lately. Anyway, if someone is selling one I would like to get it. I keep missing the few Amazon or Ebay offering. Thanks.
