match moving 3d to video software?

    HI,

erm i hope this is the right place for this.....

I'm been asked to animate a 3d character moving through some existing video footage and was wondering if anyone could recommend any reasonably priced motion tracking software that will work well with Lightwave to work out the camera position/movement?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks.

Synth Eyes, basically does what Boujou and Matchmover does but with a pricetag even a hobbiest can pay ($400).

Offcourse, no software will repair mistakes you make while shooting you BG plates, so here's a nice list of do's and dont's

There's also Pixel Hoe, which is the entry-level version of their more expensive tracking apps. I've used it, and, well, basically, it works.

    Here's one I did earlier

If you go to amazon.com type in the phrase matchmoving and it will bring up a book by that title the author is Tim Dobbert. Its a great book and even comes with some demo software. Syntheyes is not directly used in the book for examples but the theory is the same for almost any match moving software.

Syntheyes by the way has demo version you can try out

Does anyone know whether or not Icarus is still available, that was a pretty decent (non commercial free license) tracker.

Icarus was bought out by Pixel Farm and turned into a commercial product, now called PFTrack

With a retail price of roughly $6000 USD, it's not exactly a hobbyist's (or even a freelancer's) tool anymore.

Hmmm...i wasn't aware it actually became PFTrack...does PFHoe use the same 'engine'?

Voodoo does have Lscripts for Export....
You can PM me for them if you need them...
