    Landscape, Red Rocks

    Hello Community!

I'm new here and I hope I'll spend some good time with you to create some more realistic renderings.

In fact there is a lake in the us that inspired me. Perhaps one of you know the name of the lake. It begins with P.

It took me about a weekend to create these textures and displacement. Some textures are made with Lightwave and some with Corel Photopaint. I find that there are missing some fractale textures in lightwave's library. I hope there will come more in lightwave 9.

There will come an animation but it takes time. About 1 minute per frame for over 2'000'000 Polygons. "Moving landscape:layer1...". That brings me into grave.

Of course you are all invited to post your Lightwave landscape here. I don't want to hear anything about terragen or something similar to terragen. It was a challenge to try it with lightwave because I didn't see so much landscape done with it.

    Thanks for looking

Welcome aboard, the landscape looks good, just needs a bit more detail in the foreground section and maybe slightly less diffuse in the mid ground.

Nice work, I like 3d landscapes.

Very nice! How did you do the sky?

There is something not quite right about the water - the part that is just under the water, near the shore line in the bottom of the picture looks a bit bright.

Thanks a lot for your comments and your tips.

I will include more details in next comming renderings.
The water thing. Ok you are right. Thanks for seeing it. I'll correct it. I find the water has generelly to much transparency.

The sky is simply made with SkyTracer2. Low altitude clouds, volumetric rendering, texture shadows, and a x-fallof of about 8 percent for turbulence procedural texture.

    Thanks again.

You have a very nice sense of scale there - I always make water too tranparent too!

Anyway, if it's of any interest, I was trying to do lake water recently, and the surface I ended up is available in the thread:

    Are the links still down?

The water in post #11 comes very realistic. What textures have you used?

/edit: Ah I see. I will upload the pics again.

Nice terrains. I am assuming that you used a displaced sub patched plane for your terrain. What were your patch display settings? I get a lot of artifacts when I render terrains using displaced subpatch planes.
    All's well that ends well

hey Limbi - your water has definitely improved Since you're asking others for landscapes I figured I'd throw one up that I made way way way back in the early days (it's the only one I have here on my work computer). Not as nice as what you have here but what the hey The texturing was all done with procedurals and the canyon was a displacement map. It was a quick and dirty just to see what type of canyon effect I could get.

oop - I also have this one. This was a tutorial I followed so I can't take the credit... I forget from where, possibly simplylightwave.com. The tutorial explained how to create bushes with Hvoxels. The little stones were also created with Hvoxels.
