    Funny star shapes in model!

    Hi peoples!

I desperately want to know how to get rid of those annoying star shape artifacts that show up on my models in modeller.

I understand that this is because a vertex is being shared by more than 4 polygons.

Tried fixing it by adding edges and stuff, but the star shape just pops over to another spot in most cases.

5 point share is ok if on a flat surface, but you have it on not only a bend..but a compound bend.

try to use spin quads and follow it along untill it reaches and finally goes away when you reach the end of your polys.
    OR
if all else fails try to triple the one that is bending in a different direction that most of the others.
on your pic I would do the one at the 10 o'clock position. but don't triple it in the same way as your 5 point vertice

Perhaps Rounder can help? Apply it on that particular vertex.

Check out this thread for some additional information:

    http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthre...ght=poly+point

At the end I go into some theory regarding this and polyflow that may help you to better understand as well as prevent. I think I also give some links to other places for info and tutorials.

Do keep in mind it is mostly a Open GL issue, depending on placement.

    Good luck.
