    butterflynetrender with unix

Is anyone using butterflynetrender with an intel server and unix render boxes. Seems to me it would keep more money in my pocket versus handing it over to bill gates.

While currently I'm not using BNR with linux, I am using it with an X86(windows based) machine as the render controller and OS X G5 based render clients. It seems to work well so far. I'm still doing some testing before doing a wide deployment.

BNR supports linux clients for rendering, however you will need to configure SMB (Samba) to access the proper sharepoints on the windows based render controller. This is fairly painless if you enable the SWAT interface for easy web-based configuring of SAMBA on the linux client. I hope that helps.
