    Stargate Kawoosh

After years of on and off tweaking, I finalized the Kawoosh animation. It's all done in LightWave 2018 using a complex nodal displacement setup, with some post processing in After Effects.

Last year I was asked to provide a Kawoosh for Stargate: Origins, but probably due to time and budget, they opted to use the TV show/movie kawoosh instead. But my wormhole animation made it into the final cut. Now I finally found the time to finish it, and - moreover - render it. When the kawoosh is expanded, it takes 48 minutes per frame to render. The event horizon takes 6 minutes per frame.

    Thank you!

Here's the breakdown video I did years ago. It's still the same principle, but it took a long time tweaking the displacement until it looked water-ish. Another key ingredient is the reflection map.
