Is it possible to project an ANIMATION in a VOLUMETRIC light?

    LW 2015.3 still:

I want to project an animation in a volumetric light. The only options for "texture" are (1) Image Map, (2) Procedural Texture, and (3) Gradient. Obviously, I need a fourth option: animation.

Is there any way to do this in LW?

    Thanks for any guidance.

You can load image seqences like png sequence files, just load the first sequence frame, lightwave should load the rest, what you need to do is to go to image editor and change image type in the drop down list from still to sequence.
You should also be able to load other formats like avi or mov formats.

    Hey Dr,

Ya, as P. was saying Image Map recognizes a sequence or some video types.

Hope you don't mind my passing along some links as to what is doable now lighting wise with later versions of LW. Might give ya incentive. I mean, the Gods were even getting impatient for Prometheus to make the leap!

You can pretty much light in an easy, logical manner now, or at least in my way of thinking. Haven't tried some of the newer stuff in 2019 yet myself actually. Volumetrics anymore though is pretty much standard, not an after thought or a "jeez, do I want the render hit?" Very minor time impact now for the most part. Plus you can set things per light yet tweek globally.
