Recommendation for 1 GB switcher? to work with NDI sources

    Hi,

Read the techincal pdf on NewTek site.
Out there - there are many models for different switchers.

Can you please recommend of a 1 GB switcher model to buy?

    Thanks,
    Tomer

Need more information to be able to recommend something for your needs.

    What is your networking experience?
How many devices you to want to connect?
Do you think you will be adding more devices in the near future?
    Need PoE or PoE+ support?
If yes, how many PoE/PoE+ devices?
Are you looking for a managed switch in case you need NDI multicast support or other network features (VLAN support, link aggregation, etc)?
Do you want a switch that can be mounted in a rack?

    Hi Kane,

Thank you for the quick reply.

    What is your networking experience?
    Have a good networking experience.

How many devices you to want to connect?
    1-2 laptops
    3 PTZ Cameras
1-3 spares one - for dynamic plan productions.
    1-2 HDMI cameras

Do you think you will be adding more devices in the near future?
    Need PoE or PoE+ support?
The only thing I know that PoE - is Power Over Ethernet
Whats the part of the "support" - a separate electric power?

If yes, how many PoE/PoE+ devices?
Currently - 3 PoE PTZ cameras.

Are you looking for a managed switch in case you need NDI multicast support or other network features (VLAN support, link aggregation, etc)?
Currently, I don't think so. (need to verify that I understand the context of the above).

Do you want a switch that can be mounted in a rack?
Depend on the size of it.

I wish there was also an option to have a switcher with SIM card option. (to have another source for LiveU).

Thank you for the guided questions.

I have the non-PoE version of the switch linked to below. This unit has a few management features, but is easy to setup. You can probably use it without any configuration, just how it comes out of the box. It has 16 ports so you would have enough room for everything you listed with some room to grow. It can be rack mounted or used as a desktop setup. Eight of the ports on the unit support PoE+ with a power budget of 110 watts.

    TP-Link SG1016PE

While I do work for NewTek, so not take the above model as a endorsement from NewTek. It just happens that your network needs appear to match closely to the same model switch that I'm using.

If you are looking for something a SIM card, you would also need a router.

    Hi Kane,

Does the PTZ NDI cameras can connect directly to the switch - power over Ethernet?
Meaning "Eight of the ports on the unit support PoE+ with a power budget of 110 watts." - will need to connect to those ports?

    Thanks again !
