I would like to see more cool stuff getting posted here ...

Yep, I know: we are all wishing for the holy grail of a combined, perfect
    - renderer (GPU + CPU hybrid)
    - modeller (NURBS Boolean capable + 1,000 other things)
    - animator (blow Maya into the weeds)
    … have I missed anything?

But I never got into 3D for any of that. The single reason I ever parted with hard earned $$ to get LW was for the art of what this application is capable of

Yep, to reach for that goal (beyond LW as simply a hobby) has meant I've needed to invest in other, more specialised sw - e.g. Terragen, Octane, TFD, Substance, Rizom UV, OD Tools, even Rhino 3D

But truthfully, none of those tools are the point - aren't they simply a means of facilitating cool models/renders/animations as an outcome?

Just sayin' … I would like to see more cool stuff getting posted here (and/or the LW Gallery Finished forum)

I agree 1000%. Someone just posted about a site featuring LW-created art. It is the visual art in the end I'm pursuing too. And LW was the first program I got my hands on, and so I'm all-in for pushing LW all the way. I don't care about what the other programs are doing. It's all about LW for me and I know it can create amazing things. Just trying to get up to speed with 2018 and PBR and going full nodal.

Good to hear at least one agreeing chime.

Whether it is just pure LW -or- LW plus many tools, the point is (mostly) the visual art these tools are designed to serve.

I say "mostly" because for some the art lies in creating amazing 3D geometry when building models, maybe for others the art lies in posing cool models, or lighting, or grading, or <the list is long> ...

... and I would like to see more of this inspiring stuff getting posted.

Well it used to be that the gallery posted thumbnails of the images, so it was easy to just take a quick glance and go from there. I haven't posted anything forever, but I've been making some pretty cool things.

A serious flaw in the Lightwave community here, there once was a thumbnail for each post in these forum, but it vanished...after that I very..very rarely go in and look in the thread, it would force me to open every thread to find out if it is of interest, and that I won´t do, I can only suspect that feeling can be translated over to what many others feel about it as well..and as a consenquence, not much feedback and replies and following that...less people finding it worth to post.

I and others have been pointing this out very clearly, but sadly no improvements on the forum overview issue, I suspect Newtek finds it not worth it and thinks facebook is the thing nowadays, ergo no effort on maintaining this.

Hey Tim - I do remember some of your former "cool things" you have posted previously, you have a knack for making everyday things look really sweet. Maybe time to float a few more of those renders to these pages?

I must not have been paying attention back in the day when that was around. These days I seem to get by on selecting the "New Posts" button at the top of the forum page ...

I must admit I have been super keen to see more of what LW users are tinkering with artistically, and to see those efforts being showcased here (and sometimes migrating to a final version). But I do understand that not all artistic tinkering ends up as a completed, finished, polished piece of work - even so, more of it should be seen and encouraged right here ...
