I have read Cinefex since the 80's and have all the issues that have been published so far. It has always been a high-quality special effect magazine, and it was one of the first out there.
I’m sorry to say, but they have not managed the transition from physical to digital effects very well. Before the digital age we learned how the build complex cameras,
optical printers, how large miniature buildings was made, stop motion puppet armatures, creatures, etc.

When the digital wave hit, they printed a lot of “man behind a computer images”, which is not interesting at all.
Now, there are too many pictures showing the final frame. They could have printed more wireframe and compositions images, simulations, animations etc.

The last article in issue 159 is Lightning in the bottle. It is illustrated by 27 images + 6 concept art paintings.
Of the 27 images, only 8 show some kind of “making the movie” images. 1 shows Spielberg directing, 1 camera crane set up of a caravan building, 3 renders of the same
shot on different stages (comp), and 2 simple shaded renders.

The articles are very good though, but I have stopped reading Marvel articles.
