Thread: How can I create an effector dissolve effect in 2018?

How can I create an effector dissolve effect in 2018?

I'm looking for the ability to animate an effector of some sort so that I can selectively dissolve out objects and/or surfaces in 2018 in a fashion similar to what we used to do with the Worley Acid plugin in previous versions of Lightwave.

    Thanks.

First thing that comes to mind is to use a procedural texture, animated, with increasing strength and intensity on the Transparency channel.

No. I mean like Worley's Acid, Prem's Surface Effector, or Dennis Pontonniers Marker Pen Plugin.

These all use a NULL or object position to apply an effect to a given surface. You can use it to draw onto a surface a color or texture, or to dissolve out the surface or otherwise selectively change a surfaces attributes.

That's going in the right direction. However that looks like 2015 not 2018, and the nodes are a bit different. Additionally, it is very unclear to me how the instancing is involved and how it is that the sphere object (looks like an instance is being drawn out/extruded in layout. So lots of questions here, but at least you've provided some clues that I can investigate.

    Thanks

DP Marker Pen still works in 2018 if you use a Standard material.
