    Optimizing for particles in LW 11?

    Are there settings/tricks to optimize LW 11(.5) to deal with particles?

    Mostly I am quite happy with LW on my new badass Windows 8 laptop, but it seems like particles are fairly unresponsive, and I dont even have a ton of them yet.

    They render fast enough, but getting them set up in the first place is sluggish and irksome. Seems like a similar amount of particles in AE with Trapcode Particular is much more responsive.

    Any tips would be much appreciated.

    Not much you can do for optimizing I think.
    work in 64 bit lightwave.
    avoid using wind or collision dynamics when using a lot of particles, a dynamic wind with directional mode using procedural textures in vectors would be crawling ..compared to driving the motion
    directly in the particles velocity channels, which are much faster..the result is different though so it depends on what you want to acheive.

    And yes ..over 2 millions it start to become very slow...for me anyway, they need to improve the particle handling.
    but..when does the particles become unresponsive in the scene for you? particle amount? and other dynamics?
