    CharacterWorks: Character Generation and Motion Graphics for NewTek Tricaster

    I would like to make an announcement about the release of CharacterWorks, our new character generator software for NewTek Tricaster. Please see details below. I would also like to invite all forum members to our website to request our demo and evaluate CW. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally with any questions or suggestions.     AGF (www.chrworks.com, www.agf.com.tr) announced the release of CharacterWorks, an advanced character generator and motion graphics application for NewTek TriCaster™ multi-camera live video production systems. CharacterWorks runs on any laptop or desktop PC with a GPU and renders full-HD, true 3D dynamic text and graphics in real-time. The smooth, high-quality broadcast graphics of CW are streamed into TriCaster over the network, freeing up valuable TriCaster inputs. .

    CharacterWorks supports a virtually unlimited number of graphics and text objects on screen, including full-HD image sequences, animated backgrounds, rolls and crawls. Within text, it is possible to embed animations or incorporate dynamic content from external sources, such as Twitter, XML (RSS) or ODBC. Built-in ODBC support lets users easily bring in data from MySQL or Excel, without using any scripts of external applications.

    A strong, extensible foundation makes it possible for CW to provide a large array of integrated features out-of-the-box, ranging from social media integration to an advanced, flexible automation framework, all supported by an ultra-responsive user-friendly interface.

    With CW, it is possible to create original graphics, even without any input from external content creation applications. Due to its GPU-based design, CW allows real-time graphics that utilize advanced techniques such as procedural materials or particle systems that are simply not possible with other solutions in the same price range. At the same time, users can jump-start production, thanks to hundreds of presets and samples included.

    Of special interest is the high degree of integration with TriCaster. CW graphics can be edited and triggered remotely from TriCaster, effectively allowing a single operator to control both TriCaster and CW. The converse is also possible with an optional module: Many TriCaster functions can be invoked from CW as well. Coupled with CW’s advanced automation features, this makes complex setups possible, e.g. video clips can be scheduled for playback on TriCaster at specified times or synchronized with playback of CW graphics.

    CharacterWorks starts at 2495 USD, and the base package already includes Twitter and ODBC support, as well as remote control from TriCaster. AGF is accepting orders and shipping now.

    The new release of CharacterWorks, version 1.1.18, is finally here, with exciting new features, lots of fixes and improvements.

    As always, we greatly value your opinions and feedback. Let us hear about your experiences with CW!

    Release Highlights:

    * Video: It is now possible to import video files into CW. Video files work with CW's real-time materials and effects in exactly the same way as images and image sequences.

    * DeckLink Input Capture: With this option, live video capture from DeckLink cards can be used as input to CW layers through materials and effects, just like video files.

    * Keyframe References: Keyframe times can be referenced to layer sections or points. Using this feature, presets can automatically adapt to layer temporal structure, without editing.

    * Message Log: The Message Log stores detailed information, warning and error messages related to all operations.

    Major Improvements and Fixes:

    * Lots of new presets and sample layers in the Library.
    * New Image Layer creation mode for streamlined Footage import and layer creation.
    * Drag'n-drop support for common CWML creation scenarios.
    * Smoother frame rates in the editor view. Renderer optimizations. Performance improvements for GPU image streaming.

    * More robust transform pipeline that fully supports non-uniform scaling.
    * Password protection feature to prevent unwanted project modifications.

    UltraHD / 4K
    UltraHD / 4K output profiles have become available on output devices that support them (please contact us for recommended hardware specifications).
    Audio
    Audio output is now supported. Audio files or audio streams within video files can be played together with graphics. In addition to being sent to output devices (e.g. TriCaster or DeckLink), audio can be previewed and monitored through the host system audio card.

    Drive game scores using the Grid Controller! Define expressions (simple mathematical formulas) to manipulate Key-Value data source cells in every imaginable way, and activate those expression in real-time CW Behaviours.

    CharacterWorks 3 has just been released! This release contains a wide array of new features, fixes and improvements.

    Features :

    Media Support for Data Sources
    Data sources can now include media (images, video, audio) automatically imported from local files, web URLs or even database blobs as part of their content. CW layers can display media from data sources just like regular CW footage objects, in a way similar to text content from data sources.

    The Twitter Data Source now provides several additional tweet and user profile fields. In addition, avatar images and tweet media (including video) can be displayed as part of graphics.     You say it works with TriCaster, but I wonder, "does this work with the TCXD850"? (NOT Extreme and no AE available for this model). If it does, through one of the 'Net' inputs, which remote control features work?

    For video/audio, the TCXD850 uses the older TC AirSend protocol which is still supported by CharacterWorks.

    Remote control of CW from TC is supported by the regular CW Broadcast version, via either of the AirSend or NDI protocols.

    Remote control in the opposite direction (TC from CW) requires the purchase of the CW Tricaster Remote Control license option. This also works with the TCXD850 since this operates over a separate connection that is independent of video transmission.

    For those of you running Characterworks already, would you mind sharing info about your PC build? I've read the specs info on their website and also had correspondence with their tech support (who have been phenomenal, by the way) - but just wondering what some of you are running?

    One question in specific I would ask you is whether your PC is fan cooled or liquid cooled? We're going to be starting from scratch with a PC for this software so all options are currently on the table. I don't know much about the liquid cooled machines but it seems everything I find on the internet containing a GTX 1070 or 1080 GPU is all using water. So is that a must? (For reference, we're going to be using the dual output mode on Characterworks)
