    Ray cast question

    Hi all
I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use raycast in order to get a boat to float on a displaced sea (using Hot ocean plug in)
    Thanks in advance

    Hi.
Yes you can. Ive tried it and it works.
    Several thing to note.
Make shore your wave object is big enough. i use this size
    50X50meters 50x50mesh.
Set your pivot point at bottom of boat
Set your boat above the HIGHEST wave that passes under the boat.
Once you have applied your Raycast feature your boat will move up and down.
But your boat will not automatically point up the wave then point down the wave.
But lightwave has a feature to overcome this.
Watch this tutorial by Jennifer Hachigian on youtube
    https://www.lightwave3d.com/news/art...lightwave-116/
Jennifer shows how to use Raycasting in several diffent ways including how to
make an object conform to the angle of the underlying suface.
The relavent part, for you, is immediatly after the head tutorial about half way through the video.
My own expereience was that the boat object was a bit jerky over the waves.
Sorry to end on a slightly negative point but i hope what ive said helps you.
    Regards. cove.
