Speed Modeling Challenge #249 - It's a fine day for SCIENCE!

    Rules:
    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is
essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
(For wireframe help go to: http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php
    3. LightWave must be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be
posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
    6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.

    *************************************************
    This week's topic: SCIENCE!

If it can be found in a lab (mad science, real science - it's all good!)- test tubes, beakers, bunsen burners, cyclotrons, a combobulated discombobulator, high voltage equipment with exposed arcing - it's fair game.

    Time Limit: 90 min.
    Deadline: Wednesday 26 February 2014 @ 23:59:59 GMT (17:59:59 CST)

    Have fun!

I was planning on doing a microscope, but then an old friend mentioned that the time limit is 90 min this week, so I went in another direction.
I'm glad she pointed that out! I'd should thank her but I can't remember her name..... Abby someone.

    Rendering.
System Specs: A pile of sand, a couple of wires, a real live mouse and a beer.

Uh, yeah... don't expect wires from me anytime soon.
Computer completely overheated. At least that's what I'm praying for.
    In nail biting mode. :/

For anyone else who wants to get in on this, if you can post a render & wires before 0000 CDT Friday, I'll consider it valid. I'm a little bit busy right now.

    Contest is closed...
    Judging commences:
XSwampyX: Ah, Test tubes. Excellent render, and the wires are nice and clean. Quite a few loops there for the holes.
Me : Automatically disqualified. I'm the contest Starter. Modeling is all SubD, though, so ~yay!~ (Even the UV Mapped sign!)
Shnoze Shmon : Lab Glassware. Models are nice and clean. You can barely tell they're Hard Surface.
JoePoe : Wow. You did that in 90 minuntes? Also, my condolences on your computer. No wires though, before deadline.
ANS : More glass ware, with strange beverages in them... Your SubD's are clean. I like the subtle changes in color in the fluids.

    Processing... Done!

Our winner is ANS! Thanks to everyone who participated.
Now, let's get ready for spring in the next one!

    Thank you for the complement.

Haven't done a lot of SubD. Is that the modeling method this contest is geared towards?
