2013 Last day Super deal on TriCaster 850

Last day of the 2013 year and we would like to give the community a present of sorts.

We have a faithful Tricaster 850 demo unit that we would like to sell.
Fully functional and updated 8 input video production.

    $12,500 USD

That price is half of what it sold for just a couple years ago.

includes Keyboard/Mouse and 2 Lcd monitors. Even throwing in a LC-11 control surface worth $2000.

email or call quick if you are interested.

If you grab Jef's 850, we have a software upgrade from the 850 to the 850 EXTREME available. The two together would be a great way to get an 850 EXTREME for a super price. Record 8 HD channels simultaneously!

We do NOT have an 850 (only the 850 to 850 EXTREME upgrade), so you will need to contact Jef for the hardware.

    Sincerely,
    Tim Hedegaard

    Hi,

the last TC850 i have seen on ebay (multistandard unit , nearly new, sold late last year 2013 on ebay germany) was sold for 6800 EUR, it took 2 month.
I think this dramatisch price drop has its reason in the non existing upgrade path for this unit.

    Best regards,
    Walter

Not to hijack this thread (sorry, Jeff), but I'm not sure how 'dramatic' this is. The first 850 models appeared almost four years ago. I don't think something in the neighborhood of half the original price can be seen as very unusual for this sort of thing.

(As to an upgrade path, I really don't know the details ... it's a sales question; NewTek is generally as good as can be asked for about such things, and I honestly suspect the trade-up options are probably much more favorable than what I'll be offered when I upgrade my vehicle, which is a full year newer.)

Actually, in the US, TriCaster would likely be on the same depreciation schedule as an automobile (5-year IRS computers, autos, etc). Automobiles depreciate on average 15% per year. Over 4 years that's 60%. That 6800 EUR (9300 USD) seems like it's above the 40% mark. Also, eBay regional markets tend to command a price discount - IOW, you'd get more for it on eBay.com. On average, the price of a used TriCaster sold on eBay.com is well above is depreciated book value.

Anyway, back to Jef. Are you going to post the eBay URL?

Not to quibble with depreciation calculations, but a 15% annual depreciation would take ~48% off of an item in four years, not 60%. I believe that the depreciation is typically calculated on the then-current value, so you don't lose 15% of the original value each year...you lose 15% of the then-current value.

The fourth year is approximately 9% off of the original value (15% off of the then-current value).

Of course, this may not be how the IRS mandates depreciation calculations, because I don't personally do those calculations. Each year, I pay a princely sum to an accountant to determine the extraordinary percentage of the fruits of my labor that are gluttonously consumed by the bloated state and federal bureaucracy.
