Speed Modelling Challenge #35 - Vehicle race or Can you spare a model for a pal

    Rules:

1: Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential.
How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.

2:Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.

3: LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.

**Please mention whether or not you would be happy to share the model.**

4: You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.

5: Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

    Subject - Vehicle race

The Animation Challenge needs a few good modelers willing to donate or even use their own models in their inaugural challenge. You dont have to give away your model to take part but it would be nice.
    __
    Subject - Vehicle race.
Any type of vehicle (manned or unmanned), any type of race.
You may add as many non-racing elements around the race as you like.
    __

Ideally build a vehicle for use in the race but if that does not appeal try a bit of set dressing, from traffic cones to asteroid fields they all have potential uses.

Time Limit - 120 minutes (or just for this week however long you want to spend on it)

    Deadline - Wednesday 29 April 2200 GMT.
    _________________________________________
If someone wants a particular model built ask nicely and one of the fine modlers here may be able to help you out ( The more complicated and difficult your request the less chance that someone will want to spend the time on it ).

If you do use a model donated here in your animation, the very least you might do in return is to give proper credit to your modeler. Seriously I am not kidding here. A lot of thought and effort goes into a good clean model and it deserves recognition.
Sorry, I have had my work used without credit or acknowledgement and its a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
Any questions will be answered as I can.

We will return to our more normal program next week when Adamredwoods gets to be the man with a plan.

Also, this is super cool as well....just to get the design juices running

Ok, here is one I did a long, long time ago. The SHXUndercutter, a single seat air and space fighter. Includes a female pilot and nav lights.

I thought I'd just post it so you guys can have a laugh. It's my take on the first one, stopped around the 100 minute mark

I might have another go later on.

I think splines or nurbs would be the best way to approach that.

EDIT after the pic posted: Hey! That's good! Keep going!

I have no idea how to start modelling a car or so. I know there are plenty of tutorials online (free and to buy). If someone could point me to 1 free one that's really good, I would try, but forget that 120 mins time limit for sure

    Good luck all!

Here is one from me, it could do with some textures and a bit more work.
But If someone wants to use it it is a start

COBRAsoft try this, it used to be on newteks site

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately, some pictures are missing. Anybody has this tutorial with all images?

It doesn't matter what the subject is, you just look at it, them make that shape.

    Good one

Sometimes it's handy to learn good techniques from the first try instead of trying by yourself and then have a hard time dislearning them again. I found a tutorial about spline modeling a car, seems very interesting. Will give that a try.
