anyone know how to simulate LED lights?

sometimes at night, we can see some fancy cars with red LED backlight, then i was thinking how to simulate it in LW.
I was thinking about setting the surfaces' luminosity to 100% but it doesnt right at all, lol, can anyone help me please?

these are some pictures i found on google, they are what i want

I heard of a good trick that involved putting a point light with a short falloff radius behind a surface with translucency on it, that was to do a 'cylon' type of led

You could also experiment with using a gradient on the incidence angle to vary the intensity of the luminosity so that the individual bulb is brightest in the center. I don't know if it'll be useful for tail-light LEDs though.

Also, don't forget the the reflecting material behind the lights in the tail-light assembly.
