    PSD files and LW

Is there a way to export a rendered image into layers?
That is I would like to render an image with the objects on one layer and the background on a separate layer. Can LW do this?
    Thanks.

Try PSD Export under Processing->Image Filter in Layout.

I'm pretty sure this just exports spec, diff, reflection, effect, etc.
on different layers and doesn't layer with respect to the objects themselves.
I sure wish it did, that would be too cool.
If anyone knows how to do this please share! ...but I don't think you can do it.

There is no way to do it automatically. You have to manually set up seperate scenes, one with the background, and one with the objects.

There has been lots of talk about the need for rendering layers, hope we see it in this lifetime

As a side note, you don't have to use the photoshop exporter. Any 32bit format that includes an alpha channel works fine (I use targa). Just set one scene with the background 100% dissolved (or check unseen by camera) and one scene with the objects unseen. You can then combine easily these in photoshop or afterfx or whatever.

isnt this just the alpha that comes with a standard tga32 output? right, what creative control said, sorry overread...

So be sure you check in channels in photoshop, not layers...

    cheers
