About halfway down the page. The appearance was very similar to LW5.5 at the time.

Thanks a bunch for the link. Alot of interresting information here! Inspire was indeed very similar to it's bigger brother.

If Inspire is truly abandonware (I seriously doubt that anyone is using it anymore commercially) then I'd greatly enjoy a copy of it for nostalgia's sake.

Was it tied to a dongle as well, though?

I think Inspire died right after Lightwave version 5.6 came out. Now sure, if they did Inspire for version 6? go to this link, which is still up as of today http://www.jiawen.net/planettutorial.html. shows version 1.0 ,but the interface did not changed much from 1 to 5.6 to drastically.

I have the latest LW9.3.1, but I think most LW modelers started with Inspire in early 90s. Arggg, showing my age....... Keep the Inspire forum going .....

There was only ever one version of Inspire and that was 1.0.

Still have my copy. It was good for quick little jobs but very limited toolset. Used it for video graphics creation.

I also still have my copy.

I don't know if anyone else did, but I liked the colored buttons on the GUI.

We had several High School interns at that time, and they went crazy with the "cereal box" scene and learned a great deal about texture mapping and placing an image (which used to be much more involved).

Also, the program came with tutorial disk that would get these students up to speed, and if you have too many interns and not enough tasks, this is a good thing to have someone learn.

Yeah it was quick to get up to speed on, being designed for the web and multimedia production side, the render resolution worked out well for the era.

It was a useful app for all its limitations, very simple toolset, but anyone moving from inspire to Lightwave were in for a shock at the complexity of its bigger brother.

This brings back good memories, i would like to see NT come out with a more modern version, maybe not so limited though. It was such a fun way to get introduced to the Lightwave universe.

Threw together an Inspire product box with some hires textures for those who never saw the afore mentioned App. Rendered just for fun.

Hey, never knew there was a MAC version. How long ago did NT stop making it?
The race is not always to the swift -
nor the battle always to the strong -

But that's the way to bet!
