Thread: Win 64-bit question

    Win 64-bit question

    If I had Win-64 bit install on my computer, could I still install 32-bit applications? Does anyone know of any problems doing that?

    I know drivers are quite important to have 64-bit version for.

    Thanks.

    Two issues here:
    * Drivers, as you mentioned
    * If a 32bit app depends on a 32bit driver (such as a dongle driver), then it won't work.

    I've found a few apps that won't work with XP64, but it's a short list. All the main apps I use (Premiere, Photoshop, Reason, Dreamweaver, MS Office) seem to be working fine.
    STUDIO DRAVEN
    Building giant robots since 1996
    Intel Core i7 950
    6Gb RAM
    Nvidia GeForce 9800GT
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

    Excellent, thanks for the advice. I tend to use the Macromedia (ahem, Adobe) DreamWeaver and Flash, along with the Adobe suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc), Reason, modo, Vue Infinite 5.

    I use a laptop with 2GB RAM. Would going 64-bit really be worth the effort? Does it actually speed things up like rendering? I understand it help when dealing with things like 4GB RAM, etc.
