things that make you go GRRR!

things that make you go GRRR!...

i'm finding that using the net is getting more annoyng as time goes on!
    ...here's some annoying things...

you get given a hyperlink and rh click to 'save target as' only to find the link is not to the file it describes but to a pop up html page where you have to wait til it apperas before you can actually try n find the REAL link...if it's actuall there!!
what's all that about?....F**** annoying and seems to be the trend thesedays!

also i entered a survey a while back about 3d artist salaries...and filled in the form with details...today i get a reply in the email saying it's available...went to the link and you have to BUY the results at $29!!!....what the heck!

flash websites....geez i wish people who designed them actually tried to use them!.....floating graphics of pictures that refuse to stay still so you can have a look at them!....links that are embedded into the page so you can't get there quickly but have to trawl thru the site each time...

websites that load stacks of adverts around 4 lines of text which is surposed to be an indepth review!...this then takes 9 pages of single parargraphs to a page to read and a huge amount of time to load just to get a brief review

it's like the stuff that is cool to read is now buried in sh** you have to throw both your arms in to pull out the info you want....

    information supa hiway?
    ....more like a information sespit!

    ..okay moan over with!

I agree, it's very frustrating when you click on a link to read some information about something, then after going through ten web pages with a lot of ad's find out that you have to pay a membership to be able to read the info you were after.

Flash sites always have a tendency to move things around more than necessary. Just because you can animate everything doesn't mean you should animate everyting.

It's a hard life we are living.

    dear cress

i am with you mate..on flash website...(i mean i dont get it..i will never get it..you want to access a webpage but no you have to see the skills of the webdesigner..god..give me the info, pictures..NO mate..you have to wait..for what?? for A FLASH ANIMATION..for a music that i should turn off immediately...)

and i am also with you on indepth review. It is not fully grrrr but gr ..for now. Let say i couldnt read Matchmover review because of the same reason. Right now After Effects review is also released same way. It can be in only 3 pages with smaller photos and more text. I mean review is something written right...YOu gotta read the review ..not watch the review...(at least in a non-video webpage) I believe Kurv will make the CGFocus' reviews so much more refined and easy to navigate...so This is not full grr...

And i especially hate the threads named .."I have a problem"
I mean we all have problems but can you just write what is your problem in the headliner? I mean it is really making me fully grrr. I am gonna write a song for this..and the title "i have a problem"..and the lack of ability of using SEARCH function. I believe SEARCH function is directly an EGO killer. So people wants to WRITE something..I know ..I do.. And that SEARCH is simply preventing..EVIL..SUPEREGO of the FORUM. So EGO is feeling depressed and ORDINARY. Why? Because one thousand users also asked exact same question and EGO feels " **** i am not different..what the f**k so i will write only I have a problem. People will get interested." No mate we get only pissed... SO i am grrring to that Egos.

THere are more but..it is enough.

hey back on flash website...i REALLY do not ''get'' loading screens!

60%.....70%.....80%....hey buddy i'm gone!...left your site and looking somewhere else!

most loading scenes are just that...a place to WAIT...all it's doing is stopping you see the progress of the site coming in and giving you a % instead...

i'd sooner see the site come in!...doh!
and example of a geat looking flash website that i find annoying to use is this one...great product..disgusting u.i.
the floating pics really p** me off!..STOP STILL! already!!!!!...it's like trying to read the adsverts on the side of a bus passing by!...just give me a scroll bar and be done with it!!!

I see you're as crazy as ever TYROT
I do hate the amount of ads on sites these days. What I do is resize my browser window so I can only see the article in the middlle, and not the hordes of leaping and pulsating flash adverts that totally surround it.
It's because so many people are trying to earn easy money from sites these days. Commercialism of anything will make it suck.
I can't go to any site anywhere these days without seeing bloody google ads, and no, I've never ever cicked on a single ad anywhere for any reason.
Some people obviosuly do though, otherwise they wouldn't bother with ads at all

Well, if we're widening it out, then I hate televison. All television. I don't know if it's because I'm looking back on older TV shows from the perspective of the kid I was at the time, maybe the shows back then were actually just as crap, but I essentially never watch any TV at all these days. It seems to be aimed at people with the intellectual capacity of a boiled potato
I know people who's entire evening consists of watching the television.
Having said this, I also hate modern movies, music and all popular culture these days.
THe best thing to do would be to throw it all away and start again - either that or give me back the brain of the 12 year old boy I was when I loved the sort of stuff I now despise.

that would drive me nuts too....if...i didn't use the adblock plug-in for firefox. i get almost zero ads on the sites i frequent, and even some i am just passing thru.

as far as flash sites go, it seems no matter how hard you try, a client will insist on a page that animates and sings. grrrr

Well in my case, I have a free website hosted at Yahoo. Along with that comes adds, but considering it's free it's not that annoying.
Besides, most pop-up blockers takes care of most of that. At least for now anyway until advertisers find ways around it.

I remember when the first Java script floating menu first appeared. Boy was that annoying and everyone had one. At first it's mildly amusing, but after a couple of vists it really gets annoying and I end up not going to those sites anymore.

I think web designers should live by this motto "Keep it simple stupid". The more annoying, time consuming, and irritating the site becomes, the less people will visit it.

Surely that doens't work for sites that make their own ads though, it's just for the generic ads you get on multiple sites.
Maybe there's an adblock plugin for opera...

edit: Yep, there is one in fact - http://www.operaadfilter.com
Stupid me, I never thought to look for one before. It works too, and it's free.
