    Question Lightwave 9.0

Is it me or is there very little discussion on the 'soon-to-be-released' Lightwave 9.0? Usually there is much fevered talk about when and where the upgrade is. Is it that the 8.5 release stiffled the normal pre-release chatter? Is LW 9.0 still on target for 4Q 2005? Have I missed something?

    thx
    why?

Probably due to the fact that we dont' know if it's actully soon to be released or not. There has been no indication from Newtek that Lightwave will be delayed beyond 4th quarter but we also have no assurances that it won't be. I personally am trying not to get my hopes up too much on a December release. Me and disappointment aren't exactly drinking buddies.

I just received a "special message from Jay Roth" mailing (snail mail) from Newtek. It is very similar to the message posted on the NT discussion forum found here: http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=41153 except that it says "The beta cycle on LightWave v9 has begun in earnest.", instead of this "Very soon, we will begin the beta cycle on LightWave 9.0 in earnest."

    So, it's getting closer.

    Aye,
It will be done when it's done as we know. Just of course, we all need new toys to play with over the holidays, why should the kids have all the fun?

I could be wrong but this may be a good sign that Newtek has learned a valuable lesson from the last major release and is quietly going about their business to get this puppy ready without igniting the masses with spring-loaded release dates.

After all- quiet forums are preferrable to noisy angry foums.

    It's all good man.

Well, I'm ready for some videos (hint hint Proton).

I want to see the edge weighting and/or ngons in action. That or a side by side comparison of Layout performance of 8.5 and 9.

I am really curious about the improved cloth and dynamics.

I can now registger the "this" but I thought originally that LW9 would be demonstrated on Jan 12.

So I am very happy that it is December 12

Oh now you've done it. What was once a spark of pre-release forum activity will be a blazing inferno of demands, speculations, and "I want I want I want I wants!"

I can just see people demanding to know where the videos are at 10:00am Monday morning. "But he said this week, we want an update on his estimate!!!"
