With heavy iconed apps like Maya and Max a user who works with them will learn the shortcuts and will only use the icons for advanced features that are rarely used. If you ever watched someone that is a master in their chosen app they never use the icons or text labels.

Yeah, I use the keyboard for as many LightWave commands as I can. If I was smarter/had a better memory/more time to spend learning it, I would disable the menus altogether.

Has anyone tried to use Truespace? I used to use it a long time back, and still got confused by the subtley different icons. Very tricky indeed. Newtek have done a great thing with their text based interface.

Even XSI confuses me with their odd naming conventions. Sometimes they just don't use english, more like Physicist speak and have hugely long names for a tool.

Anyway, i would very much like to see some of LW9 soon too... i haven't pre-ordered yet, but maybe if i see more of what it's like i will jump at the chance, i have enough money right now, so maybe if (bribing like a maniac) you show me some nice videos and stills i may go ahead and make that order!??

    Just a reminder

As a reminder to those who have not yet ordered their pre-release upgrades:

The Lightwave/VUE 5 promotion ends when we ship Lightwave 9 don't miss out on such a great deal.

Some of us like to see the product before we buy it. I can evaluate VUE5 all I want, but it's LW9 that I'm really interested in! Give us some fresh screengrabs and demos and I'll consider taking advantage of that promotion pronto. Or does NT plan to sell LW9 on another package merits? Because that's how I read your statement and NTs (in)actions combined with the lack of current LW9 demos.

Nice of you to remind us though, whatever the case.

    EDIT:
I am truelly grateful that NT keep getting us cool deals! I also hope I'll get the chance to take advantage of them. Sorry for being abit of jerk.

    Hey Zane!

Glad to see you out and about.

As a question, will the VT crowd ever see such cool deals? Incentives such as this would be a boon to the community morale.

Hey Peoples, just thought i would mention, i have an Lscript that can change the colors of the interface in Modeler and Layout.... It's free!!
It's fairly basic and crude... But it does change the colors.

    http://freestyler.site.net.au/Site/Intershade03.zip

It's a compiled Modeler Lscript...... Just use the Lscript/RT in Modeler
and it will ask for your HubConfig, after it's selected A menu will come
up and you can change the individual colors, via RGB slides.
(You have to close Modeler and restart to see changes)

You can't sue me, if it fondles your grandmother etc....
It was only meant for me internally....
But It works okay on WinXP, LW8.3 and 8.5
It was going to be written in C... But Lscript handles the RGB controls
a whole lot better than the C version can.... (god only knows why!)

    Hope it helps!

Personally I prefer to invest my money in a worthful LW upgrade. The attraction is LW and I dont want to believe that Vue is covering an incomplete LW upgrade.

You better consider what you offer seriously, cause competition is looming,
and userbase requests involve LW progress and not secondary-need added offers.

We all want more from LW, I agree But if you think the LW9+ plus the value adding of Vue5 is a bad one, i'd say go and find a better more competitively priced software package that does what you need..

Or better, wait till LW10 don't buy LW9, and save some bucks....
But honestly, the LW9 feature list is posted, if it doesn't suit you
or give everything you want for Christmas...... Why wouldn't you loom over to the competiton?

There are other packages that cost more, and offer more....
(some will cost you more, and offer you less too!)

RedBull, I dont have intention to enter a meaningless argument.

Yeap, I saw what LW9 will offer. So far so good, I am satisfied with the announcement. Now what I am expecting is the post-release comments.
Its easy to fillin a promises-list, its harder to have them implemented and effective not only in video-demos or in blank scenes.
I am also expecting solid almost bug-free reliable software.

As far as Vue, its been years that I invested in a different app, (according to my criteria and needs) and didnt expect Newtek to add Vue.

Realviz ImageModeler is resting in its envelope until I need it, (If)...

I dont have problems investing in software. It encourages developers to move on. Its not the right place to list (very long list) what I bought so far.
In this case, since LW is a probably my main app, I have expectations
and requests that I will face more often than daily basis.
