Unhappy Delete Key Problems on Powerbook

When using LW8.0.1 on my G-4 Powerbook, the delete key (although mapped) does not function. I have to go to the apps menu and "clear" or "cut". The Delete Key works normally in ALL other applications.

Has anyone experienced the same problem or able to recommend a solution?

It's perhaps not a Delete key- it's a Backspace key, there is a difference. You can remap your keys by hitting Alt F9 anyway...
