Storm HyperVoxels
Is it a perpetual license? Still doesn't seem that will be easy importing alembic files into LW and render them with motion blur, neither particles, isn't it?
yes, another reason to like it.perpetual ?
true, like stated in videos one would have to use RSMB. (studios use it, so fine by me). (usually)Still doesn't seem that will be easy importing alembic files into LW and render them with motion blur, neither particles, isn't it?
another test... Storm Snow Cubes (LW instancing + sss)

Hi,
you can import Lightwave camera and animated meshes via alembic into storm.
For camera: export it without objects, in a seperate file (storm crashes when I try to import the camera from an alembic that contains meshes too). For all alembic imports I have to change the scale from 1 to 0,01. OBJ import has the right scale and can be used for static objects.
Storm does not import the FOV of the camera correct and you have to set it manualy. Even if you can enter an aspect ratio, Storm doesn't show a frame of the image (at least I don't know how).
I export particles to alembic and use OD_AlembicParticlesToPFX from OD Tools to convert it to a PFX file.
If you want to use meshed particles you can export it as OBJ sequence (no motion blur as far as I know). Alembic mesh export does not work because Lightwave does not work with vertcaches that have changing point count).
And you can export VDB files too.

so, no need to go the Blender "obj sequence" route.Storm, Eloi Andaluz » Nov 30
Yes, with nodes in storm, you can take your simulation and using "Scatter" node, scatter any geometry over points,
and save that as obj, or alembic and load directly in to LightWave for example.

so, i take it this would render motion blur.

also, if you have the RealFlow LightWave plugin that reads .bin files, (you'd need to get a hold of RealFlow i guess..)
it might be that this makes it possible to render both particles and an obj sequence with motion blur.

You will get a PFX file and therefor you get motion blur for your particles (old Hypervoxel motion blur seems to be broken in Lightwave 2020, but that is an different story). You can use it like native PFX (as Hypervoxel, particle, Instancer or for VDB...)
As far as I know motion blur does not work for an object sequence. To scatter geometry over points use Lightwave instancer.

I am actually shocked it is on Mac also.
by the way, OD_AlembicParticlesToPFX is stand-alone, right ?OD_AlembicParticlesToPFX
so i won't need LW2020 ?
