Hmmm. I wish it wasn't so close to Christmas, I would really like to spring for a studio license.

Might just be another item to add to the future purchase list. Hmmm... will have to see.

um, that doesn't make sense i think, since it has the same features as the $89 Indie license.

Regardless of features, I think a Studio license is pretty much forced depending on financial turnover of the buyer ...

Does it port over to Lightwave easily?

    Hi, weeell....

i'm looking into importing a Mesh obj sequence into 11.6 and it should work alright,
importing particles in 11.6 looks to be more tricky.
exporting an animated Alembic file from 11.6 (into Storm) isn't possible, so might try the LW11.6-MDD to Blender-Alembic route.

not sure how Storm Alembic imports into LightWave 2018 /2020.
importing Bin files can work, but unfortunately one needs to buy RealFlow to get a hold of the .Bin importer.
Storm Admin > To export (particles) to lightwave you will need to export the particles using alembic or BIN files back to your program
there are some LightWavers testing Storm >
    they might have more/better answers...

for importing the "particles" into LW11.6 i am looking into simply converting the particles to a mesh in Storm, then export it as an .Obj sequence.
Yup, it's a dirty hack, will probably work so-so...

also, unless there were some misunderstandings, Storm should also be able to import an .Obj sequence from LightWave into Storm.

actually... included in ODTools 2019 ($200) there is a Alembic Standalone App for converting Alembic to Pfx... could work.

If you look in the ODTools2019 readme, the instructions to DL both the "AlembicParticlesToPFX.exe" tool and the "FBXSubstancePrep.exe" tools are at the bottom of the "Bonus Download" section. Unfortunately, they're Windows-only executables.

Yes, but as was pointed out earlier... There is the monetary restriction on the indie license.

I just personally feel like having the full studio license avoids any possible issues down the road.

    sure, understandable.

had the same thought in regards to Houdini Indie, but came to the conclusion i could simply upgrade it mid-process if necessary.

though times, i can see that, good thing is that the cost isn't off the charts, so you can jump in at a later time.

Only practical if you can import Lightwave camera and animated meshes that work with collisions and emitters, into Storm (not working with Embergen yet). Then export meshes (preferably) or particles into LW that work with motion blur. Otherwise, useless in production.

Can anyone post a clear step-by-step process for this that actually works?

the camera, no, it can't (yet) their development is rapid tho'

the importing of animated objects,... well, it looks like it can based on this answer, have yet to try, and lacking time at the moment.

    supposedly it imports animated Alembic.

motion blur, unsure, render in double Fps, then run RSMB for good results, it will cut your LightWave rendertime in half.

they used it in this end scene in Game of Thrones, so certainly wouldn't call it useless.
