SRT streaming and surprisingly high delay

    Hi

Im experimenting with SRT links on the trickster 2 elite.

When outputting an SRT stream I find the delay to be 3+ seconds, even on the local network. I can't find any settings to adjust the delay.

Is there any way to reduce this delay? It should be no problem getting an SRT stream to below 0,5s on a good connection.

What software you are viewing the SRT stream in? VLC Player?

VLC Player automatically caches one second of video, you can adjust this when you setup the Network Stream, under the 'Show more options' checkbox.

When I adjusted this setting (I didn't make it zero, but set it really low like 20 milliseconds), I had about 1 second of latency between TriCaster and VLC showing the result.

Also, you can loopback the SRT output back into the TriCaster as an input, doing that test I get under 1 second of latency, anything I see in VLC player must be the network and VLC itself.

You are completely correct, I was viewing this in VLC, and we have now tested this to Vmix and the latency is good :-) My bad.
