Mini 4K Youtube Live Stream Audio Broken and Video Jittery

One of our Mini 4Ks video jitters and has broken audio when streaming live to youtube; it almost looks like slow motion. The image and audio look fine in the Tricaster so we know its in the encoding somewhere. We have tried making changes to the stream settings but have had no luck. Does anyone have any ideas what can cause this? Thank you.

If you archive/capture the encode to the local drive, does it also have the same issue when played back?

If no, then my guess is bandwidth between you and YouTube.

If yes, then it would appear that the encoder is having issues. What software version do you have installed? What is the encoder parameters set to?

The capture is fine. The issue is confined to the stream.
Bandwidth is huge up so that shouldnt be the issue. Speed is 20/80

All settings have been tried (Low, Med, High, Session)
Session is set at 1920x1080
H.264 High Profile
Bitrate 4308 kbps
Framerate 29.97
Quality Medium

If the encoded capture is fine when you play it back, then it would appear the encoder is not having issues creating the content.

As another test, what if you stream to Facebook (or another CDN) does that stream okay? It is only YouTube that has issues or any CDN? Can you try a Custom RTMP to send the video to YouTube to see if that makes any difference?

Unfortunately its inside a schools network and Facebook is blocked. I tried anyway...no go. Theres just no way to test it where it is in that regard which means I will have to take it outside the network and what a huge pain that is going to be. Also, it should be noted that we replaced a TC40 V2 and it had no issues streaming so it seems unlikely to be anything on the network. We have also been working with the schools IT security specialist to give us the open ports we need. So we know its open. Its just the strangest thing Ive ever seen. Next step is to find the time to move the unit. Thanks.

I'm trying to come up with test to help focus where the issue might be.

If there was issue with encoding in the TriCaster, like system itself was dropping frames, then this would show up in the recording. If the recording shows all frames and looks good, then we know that the frames were 'generated' by the encoder. The next step to look down the chain to see what could be happening there.

Something else you might test, which should be possible on your local network is SRT output. You can configure SRT output on the TriCaster and start the encoder. Then take the URL shown in the panel and type that into VLC Player on another system on the local network. If VLC can playback the SRT output correctly, then I feel that the frames coming out of the TriCaster are good, the issue is something external.

After that it is trying a different CDN or a different network so see if that makes any difference.

I understand that the TC40 worked previously, but perhaps the IT department has changed aspects of the network between then and now?

Also, is your Mini 4K running current software?

Does this happen on any of the other 3 Mini 4k's have this issue?

I will check the other systems on Monday, but I have to HOPE that all machines wouldnt fail the same way. I will know more Monday.

The City Hall system works fine (same setup). I need to do the SRT test at CHS to verify where the issue is located.

On your Mini 4K, add a 'SRT Stream' in the encoder panel, assign it to your encoder #1 or #2.

In the options, choose the "Host Local SRT Stream".

At the bottom of the Window is a 'srt://' URL. Copy this down.

Now start up the Stream/Encode button on the TriCaster.

Now on another computer on the local network, install VLC Player. In VLC choose 'Open Network Stream' from the Media menu. In the window that opens, type in the 'srt://' URL you got from the TriCaster streaming panel. In a few second you should see the stream appear in VLC Player. Does this stream playback okay in VLC Player?
