Nothing would make me happier than OTOY buying up Lightwave, but sadly it sounds like the only opportunity where that would have happened was several years ago. We'll see.

Open sourcing it seems like the only conceivable way forward now. If that is even possible.

I'm not going to hold my breath for that. Someone would still have to purchase the software and I don't think Vizrt is willing to sell it at all.

One important question is, is the feature request system still valid? as being something they look in to?

I doubt that anything is valid now. Deuce is there until then end of the year, however, even if you do report bugs, is anyone going to look into them, fix them and then release an update, colour me sceptical.

I have just asked Viktor the release status of LWCAD2020, and asked permission to put the reply here...

The bug report/feature request system is still logging and I'm still submitting. The input can be useful if Vizrt is considering future development.

My company stopped development of an application in 2010 but we still keep the bug/feature submission system running. The user input is still valuable to us for planning for future updates or for an entirely new application.

LWCAD 2020 will be out this month if nobody report some serious bugs.

I am already working on release video for LWCAD 2020.

    Sorry for delay.

Ok thanks. LWCad is probably the one plugin i would upgrade, even not knowing the status of LW.

Again, itīs about trust and two way communication..I wonīt spend time on feature requests if I am suspecting my request is just a black hole, no chance of ever getting back as investigated.

The only ones that can answer this good enough, is newtek/vizrt themself, and since they declared quite strongly they do not do that..it leaves every customer in the dark, and in effect potentionally very harmful for any eventual development they actually may have.

Doubts or speculations from users as for what use the feature request has...really doesnīt matter.

I'm planning on doing the same for the foreseeable future too. No point jumping to something else when it mostly works for me at the moment.

Will keep my fingers crossed for Ben and that Vizrt sell to a decent and open company who believes in marketing!

Quite sad to see this news in the 30th anniversary of LightWave to be honest. Very sad. Should have been hyped and marketed the hell out of... But didn't expect that to happen lol
