emulate Intel x86 code through Rosetta 2 so aught to, but someone has mentioned there is a problem with sub menus not working with 2020 with Big Sur, will have to try it on my sisters new MacBook Air if I can get hold of here
Does Lightwave still install if a ‘compatible’ gpu is not found?
Mac Pro (2010) OSX 10.14 RX580 Pulse LW2020
(plugins: LWCad 2020, TFD 1443, Syflex 2018, StarPro(2.3) 2020, ExrTrader 2020, Ubercam 2.0, Daz Mocap, DP Light 2020, Quadpanels 1.53)
not impossible, runs smoothly with any card / driver on PC.
so not impossible Mac would do it also.
no Mac guy tho' not since 20+ years ago...
hopefully a Mac guy can chime in on that.
remember what happened to Softimage ?But as a company claiming that they will "continue to support LightWave 2020" when they no longer respond, manage and fix bugs is for me to openly lie to their paying customers.
same thing.

Just a thought, with M1 gpu not being Nvidia/AMD/intel.

FWIW, the EIAS3D guys have apparently been working for ages to bring out version 10, but had to go back to the drawing board due to Mac changes, so this could also be impacting the release of any LW2021, as it doesn't make sense to release a version now only to have to redo things anyway..
Yes it should, as far as I know there is no hardware check in the installation routine (except a disk space check maybe).
It installed in my (non LW 2020 compatible Intel 8th gen Core i7) notebook and even started, but any interaction with objects in LW 2020(.0.2) Layout immediately crashes it.
All other LW versions like 2019 run on that laptop and LW 2020 runs on all other machines, so it's not a big issue for me.
Don't know for Mac, I'm still on Catalina 10.15.7 on the MBP and it's not a machine for 3D anyway.
That's the most optimistic post I've seen in ages. Keep it up, i just wish i could believe it. Why get rid of so many developers when you know you have some work to do to accommodate Mac changes. To be honest, if there were a LW 2021 it would be a hard sell. There are more than enough bugs in LW 2020 to warrant another bug fix for 2020.

I hope it sees the light of day. Don't forget there was a LW 2017 and i presume a LW 2016 that never saw the light of day.
