Its funny we get one of these threads every time someone changes their linked in pages or FB profiles, and yet we still get updated software over and over,
could be a million reasons as to why they changed their profiles, a million reasons they changed their internal workings, maybe their moving it all to Europe? maybe their just using freelancers, who knows, why do they need to tell us the internal workings? do you know the name of every developer at autodesk? as long as updates come along what's the problem? (not directed at you by the way, was just talking in general)

One of the CEOīs is Swedish, it is possible he opened a jar of sour herring.

in Norway we have a tradition "GravLaks"

you basically put the Salmon fish under the ground, let it lie for weeks, to rot, then dig it up and serve it.

nope, not a joke, some Norwegians actually eat that stuff.

now..... here's the thing... i hear Swedish sour herring is worse (!!!)

    ah, Wiki, my friend...

During the production of Swedish surströmming, just enough salt is used to prevent the raw herring from rotting while allowing it to ferment. A fermentation process of at least six months gives the fish its characteristic strong smell and somewhat acidic taste. According to a Japanese study, a newly opened can of surströmming has one of the most putrid food smells in the world, even stronger than similarly fermented fish dishes such as the Korean hongeohoe or Japanese kusaya.[2]

    back to the subject....

Didn't they say that they will ditch LWscript and go full python a while ago in the next LW releases over time? that's for good i think. Maybe an overhaul.
yup, why would they do that right before a closure. wouldn't quite make sense.

tho' sure, many things don't make sense in this world.

Well. Whatever is going on, I can guarantee you that the actual lightwave devs are not making the big decisions here, so development decisions and upper level restructuring if that is what happening are unrelated. So while development team communicates its decisions that affect users, they may not even be aware of the management decisions that will affect them. A company doesn’t tell its employees that their jobs will disappear six months in advance. Hopefully we are all just overreacting. But the signs aren’t promising, granted, the signs aren’t noticeably worse than the lw2018 development cycle. I am most concerned by S.Bowies comment that the team is being integrated into the rest of the company. It may mean nothing, but it is worrying.

I posted this on FB so I'll post it here as well. It could be that Antti, Jon and Dave Vrba left on their own accord and were not let go. I think that's a significant difference in the discussion/speculation. Yeah if they were fired that is very disturbing, but if they left because they didn't want to report through a different structure or worse yet could no longer work from home - well you get the idea it may not be LW is in danger at all. Vizrt/NT may very well be doing everything in their power to bring LW back to prominence with more devs and maybe felt a reorganization was in order - it wouldn't be their fault if a few of the LW devs didn't like their new bosses and decided to quit.

Agreed. Without replacements. And it is not easy to find good rendering specialists, and hard to keep them.

    ah, Wiki, my friend...

Since you brought it up I just have to respond a bit off topic...

You must have missed that tv series Norway against Sweden, where Therese Johaug, Northug and some other in the Norwegian cross country ski-team had some funny competitions against some of the Athletics in the Swedish Cross country ski-Team like Kalla.

When one of the nation teams lost, they were presented by a punish by the winning team, and in one episod when Norway lost..the Swedes decided that the Norwegian team had to eat the Sour herring..and it was a bit fun to watch Northugs face, he couldnīt stand that one...so yes, I think the herring is worse.

The salmon fish under the ground, yes I saw something abou that, but I havenīt heard it should be that bad though..maybe it is, anyway,..I havenīt tried any of those dishes, canīt stand salmon and I rarely eat fish though maybe I should for the health (unless itīs full of polllution stuff)

The absolute best fish dish I have ever eaten is my mothers oven baked red pepper baked codfish, cooking cream, red pepper, tomato pure, it just melts in your mouth and that mix of tomato and red pepper...just Yummi.
And that red golden color is looking great as well, I do not see the need to expose myself to that herring odeur just to get some sensation in my mouth when that could be done a bit sweeter with the ovenbaked codfish, smells delicious and taste delicious as well.
Unfortunately I am not a fan of cooking so I havenīt learned how to do it, but it is on my agenda to do soon.

Sort of why I hope it may be a temporarely lay-off, due to corona and economic situations, but who knows...hopefully vizrt newtek could so easy just jump in and make a comment, either itīs a god one..or if no comment..the speculation is on full thruster towards negative outcome.

That runaway train on Facebook probably halved LightWave's users all by itself. Thinking about it, how many LW users who would update to the latest version would there be at this point?

    3000~5000 paying upgraders? Less? More?

That's the "smoking gun", the complete absence of available replacements. Pull further on that thread.
