    In my day sonny!

I just finished watching an episode of this show and saw this in the end credits and wondered if this was the point in time that NT really stopped caring if anyone knew they existed.

(10 point for naming the show )

Wasn't the full handle "Seaquest DSV", or am I misremembering?

    Yep, Seaquest DSV.

Loved that show. Had Roy Schneider and Stephanie Beecham in it... Good cast, great effects for it's day. Not seen it for years.

I think you are correct Steve.

I think I also remember reading that they were using an unofficial product called "The Screamer" that was supposed to accelerate rendering. I remember asking about it at a demo and the presenter (comically) pretended not to understand what I was talking about. In other words Newtek wasn't acknowledging the product.

    A bit of fun history:

I may have read an article where it's been turned to HD and put on NBC's new Peacock streaming service in the freebie bucket. It might be interesting to see how the HD filmed shots contrast with the SD video rendered shots.

Just being pedantic (and to give due credit), I think it's "Scheider"

    And you would be correct:

Didn't the show change its title to Seaquest 2032 later on when Michael Ironside took over command ? It became a regular sci-fi show at that point with lots of firefights and none of the educational stuff at the end if I remember correctly.

We had one of those ... a Dec alpha. Man, they were fast! Even had elastic reality on that screamer.
Its what made rendering tolerable, and thus the whole experience that much better. Instant gratification. And all.

I had one on loan from Amblin. It was fast.

    Cheers Steve!
I could blame typing on a kindle. I could blame tiredness. I could blame my memory, after typing his name from memory before checking imdb...
But honestly, I always thought it was Schneider! I have learned something new today.

You get to a certain age, humility comes with it ... along with recognition that no-one else is perfect, either. This saves a lot of effort otherwise spent trying to find ways to divest oneself of blame, so 'win, win!'
