There's a reason why I still use LWCAD 4.51 in production for Arch Viz even though I own every version of it up to and including 2020. I find the Auto roof tool very handy in the newer versions but that's about all. 2020 will likely be the last LWCAD version I upgrade to unless development becomes more geared towards Arch Viz again at some point.

I'm curious how many users actually find nurbs tools useful in LWCAD for your own work?

I think the NURBS is very useful for many things mechanical and with the improvements to the Round tool, I think they will make a powerful duo. I can see myself drawing many pulls, handles and other furniture or household objects using these NURBS tools and then of course using the improved Freeze NURBS to covert to polys and then SubD's.

The biggest mistake Viktor made was implementing his own selection methods and not letting that be. There are some handy ways to select, but for ease of use he should have stuck with LW's own methods.

Hmmm. Just installed LWCad 2020 & it's asking for an Activation key. Just sent Viktor a note but wondering if anyone else had this issue?

Yes, just put in your 2018 license number, and auto activate.

Yes I would definitely have to agree with you there. I found myself always having to consciously think about what I was doing when selecting in the newer versions. I tried for a while hoping I would eventually get used to it but I never did. Very counter intuitive compared to just using Lightwaves existing selection system. This is another reason I still use LWCAD 4.51 mainly. I have newer versions installed for when I do need to use a newer tool.

Did that as I have the last several betas but it refused it. For now I just went with Trial until I hear back.

Have you logged onto your lwcad account.
When I logged on, my license says 2020 now.

Possibly in process of updating everyone’s acccount.
The update was only available today.

Same here, I liked the old LWCAD versions better from a usability point of view and I was completely happy with the feature set at that time. The LWCAD selection and modification system works ok but it's totally unintuitive in LightWave in my opinion.

The NURBS tools are too limited and clunky to be useful for what I've tried and that still seems to be the case with the 2020 update. To be fair I haven't tried them out in 2020 but referring to what was shown and the LWCAD Next section at the end of the video, Welding, Subdivide and Reduce are still missing and NURBS Booleans is not even listed as future planned feature.

Sure, some features benefit from the TR geometry type, but the development takes too long and broke old features. Also, it increases the mess with different incompatible geometry types and redundant tools in LightWave. Having to convert a geometry type within the same application should not be required in a modern application. Positive however is that the LWCAD geometry type is also implemented for Layout.

For me, LWCAD 2020+ should offer more new ArchViz features like improved and more flexible Stairs with proper Bevels, maybe Sidewalks, updated Preset Library etc. At least the Road tool is back.

I installed LWCAD 2020 for LightWave 2020.0.2 but don't have much use for it since I won't use Modeler again and the LWCAD ArchViz tools are available in the Cinema 4D version (and they work very well).

For pure LightWave / Modeler users, LWCAD is still a must have plugin though.

By the way, what does TR stand for?

I got the Newsletter with the link last night but didn't install until today.

I did check my account but it wasn't there. I'll check again later then.

I have bought the 2020 update yesterday, immediately received all the necessary stuff and I have manually installed everything. I always activate manually with code. All works well.

I didn't know I haven't activated my LWCAD yet until today. LOL! But I'm not sure I want to install the 2020 beta.

I only installed the last 2018 beta because all of a sudden the latest build of 2018 was giving me an error with plugins not being able to load.
Tried 2020 beta, but gone back to 2018 build until actual release of 2020.

Bought 2018 a week ago, received 2020 yesterday and no problem with activation.
