I did also some experimentations with a node, not released yet,

each letter/character has an index/ID, which can be handled by the Part Info node from DPKit,
so each letter may be colored individually, and moved like a part/piece in Part Move node.

    One possible setup,

    The animated result,

Or this one with a text file,

I updated the texture versions of DP Textgen,
With "Digit" counter Type, you can add text as "Prefix" or "Suffix",
for both: check "Prefix" in "Text" field, separate them with the * character.

I released the nodal versions of DP TextGen,
for pre and post Lightwave 2018, windows & mac versions,
including a Character Info node with Index output
(replacing the Part Info node in my example above)

    Nodal Special inputs:
-"FgColor" can be applied per letter/character/digit, using the Character Info node
to get an index per letter item.
-"Angle" input is a rotation angle applied per letter.
-"U Move", "V Move","U Scale" and "V Scale" inputs work in Letter UV space.

Edit : Link to Node version for Lightwave 2018+ doesn't seem to work at the moment.

Yes, thanks, misnamed 2018 version, …
but removed for the moment, I got a crashing issue in 2018 node,
    hope to upload it later.

I updated the node versions of DP TextGen, to version 1.7

-Added a "SubText" index input for picking a subtext in a Text File formated with "*" character.
each group of line must start and end by a line with only a "*" character.

    -"Shift Index" for shifting upper case, lower case or digit character (A + 2 = C, a + 2 = c, 1 + 2 = 3),
    doesn't affect other characters.

A simple node setup for various dancing letters effect,
connect this to the last inputs of DP Textgen node (U/V Move, etc)

nothing complicated, a Math Sin node for ondulating,
other nodes just for adjusting the effect.

As a post-process in DP Filter, for a rough text generation,
I recommend to use Pixel Filter node editor,
because you can get a nice and fast Anti-Aliasing, even with Adaptive sampling,
until it is included or added to main buffer or beauty pass.

For this you need to enable the AA option in the node editor panel,
just use the ratio of the image as Y Scaling in the node
and adjust Alignment, Letter Size etc.

    Animated drop text,

...Also any Text overlay in Pixel node editor, should be visible in VPR (LW2018+),
...but seems that Multithreading in Pixel Filter NE is crashy with VPR,
so it is limited here, as I can see VPR screen coordinates are strange.
